Windlab honoured with Equitable Workplace Award 2025
Celebrating International Women's Day by championing rights, equality, and empowerment for all women and girls.
As we approach International Women's Day (IWD), Windlab is proud to announce that we have been honoured with the Equitable Workplace Award 2025 in the Mining, Energy, and Resource (small to medium size business) category at the Work180 International Women’s Day Summit. This accolade underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Windlab’s Chief Operating Officer, Kate Naughton, highlighted the importance of fostering an inclusive workplace to drive innovation and success in the renewable energy sector.
"The foundation of our success as a business is our people,” Ms Naughton said.
“By fostering an inclusive workplace, we ensure that diverse perspectives shape the future of renewable energy.
“This recognition highlights the work we’ve done so far, but we know there’s always more to do.”
This year's United Nations IWD theme, For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment, resonates deeply with our purpose at Windlab. We believe that embracing diversity and ensuring equal rights are fundamental to driving innovation and achieving excellence in the renewable energy sector.
We have implemented several key initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion:
- Comprehensive parental leave: Offering 20 weeks of paid parental leave for all carers, including maternity, paternity, adoption, and permanent foster care, with an additional six weeks for birthing parents, to support our employees during critical life moments.
- Flexible work arrangements: Providing options such as compressed work weeks, flexible start and finish times, job-sharing arrangements, and hybrid working models to accommodate diverse needs.
- Diversity & Inclusion strategy and committee: Establishing a dedicated committee to drive and monitor our D&I strategy, ensuring continuous development and accountability.
- Professional development programs: Implementing an emerging leader program to nurture and support our future leaders, emphasising the growth of women in leadership roles.
- Regular salary reviews: Conducting routine evaluations to maintain gender pay parity across the organisation, ensuring fairness and equity.
We recognise that diverse teams foster innovation and strengthen business performance by bringing a broader range of perspectives. By championing diversity, we not only uphold our core values but also enhance our ability to tackle the complex challenges of the renewable energy transition.
While progress has been made, women continue to be underrepresented in STEM and the renewable energy sector. According to the STEM Equity Monitor, women hold 15% of the STEM-qualified occupations in Australia. In the electricity, gas, water and waste services sector, women make up 26% of the workforce, according to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency’s Gender Equality Scorecard 2023-24. While the Clean Energy Council reports that women represent 39%of Australia’s clean energy workforce, we know there is still much work to do.
At Windlab, we are determined to keep pushing forward. The transition to renewable energy is one of the biggest challenges of our time, and solving it requires the brightest minds. Diversity is not just about fairness—it’s about unlocking innovation, driving performance, and maximising productivity. A more diverse team brings broader perspectives, leading to smarter solutions and stronger business outcomes.
By breaking down barriers and closing the gap, we create more opportunities for women to contribute to the transformation of Australia’s energy system. This starts with an equitable workplace—one that supports diverse needs, fosters growth, and empowers everyone to thrive.
The award selection process is based on the highest scores in the Work180 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Assessment, which evaluates ten fundamental standards of fostering workplace equity: representative leadership, flexibly working arrangements, pay equity, shared caring responsibility, employee voice and ERGs, career development, inclusive and anti-discriminatory culture, employee safety and support services, and strategic commitments.
As we celebrate this recognition, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion. We invite all stakeholders to join us in this journey towards a more equitable and empowered future for all women and girls.
END.
